Review labels, focus, reduced motion, and contrast in React Native Base. Use this checklist to test your Expo screens with VoiceOver and TalkBack.
Start with the README
Each Base component documents its accessibility behavior and limitations. A component’s semantics are a foundation; your app supplies meaningful labels, relationships, state, and navigation order.
Controls and forms
Give every field a persistent label. Expose selection, disabled, expanded, loading, and error states. Keep validation close to the relevant field and preserve input after a failure. Provide descriptive labels for icon-only actions and comfortable touch targets.
Focus and overlays
Test keyboard focus, screen-reader order, dismiss behavior, Android Back, and focus restoration. Check overlays within the actual screen hierarchy. A toast inside one native modal cannot automatically cover another native modal.
Reduced motion
Respect the device’s Reduce Motion preference. Preserve the component’s reduced-motion path when changing transitions. Communicate completion and selection with text or state, not only movement or color.
Theme and layout
Check text contrast in both color schemes after changing an accent. Support large text and long labels. Keep actions clear of the keyboard, safe-area insets, and scroll boundaries. Test with VoiceOver and TalkBack on the devices you ship.
Release review
Each published piece is reviewed on physical iPhone and Android devices with Expo Go before release. That review does not replace testing your composed app, its content, and its custom theme. Quality and testing
