AI coding agents (MCP)
Let Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or VS Code find, read and add animations for you.
The CLI includes a Model Context Protocol server. Once it is connected, your coding agent can search the catalog, read an animation's props and usage, and add it to your project, using the same account and the same install logic as the CLI. It only installs what your account includes.
1. Sign in once
npx nativeanimation login2. Connect your agent
Claude Code
claude mcp add nativeanimation -- npx -y nativeanimation@latest mcpCodex
codex mcp add nativeanimation -- npx -y nativeanimation@latest mcpCursor, Windsurf, VS Code and other clients take the same command in their MCP settings:
{
"mcpServers": {
"nativeanimation": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "nativeanimation@latest", "mcp"] }
}
}The server is also listed in the official MCP Registry as com.nativeanimation/nativeanimation.
3. Ask for what you need
Add a color variant carousel to the product screen and wire it to our product data.
The agent finds a match, reads its props, copies the source into your components folder, runs npx expo install for
missing packages and uses the component with the right props.
Tools
| Tool | What it does | Needs sign-in |
|---|---|---|
search_pieces | Search by text or tag, with price, preview video and your access | No |
get_piece | Full docs of one animation: props, usage, packages, platforms | No |
list_owned | Animations your account can install | Yes |
add_piece | Copy animations into the project and report the import line | Yes |
add_piece never overwrites files that differ unless the agent passes overwrite, only writes inside your project,
and leaves dependency installs to the agent unless it asks for them. If your MCP client starts servers outside the
project folder, the agent passes the project path in project_root.
The server speaks MCP 2026-07-28 and the earlier initialize-based revisions, so it works with current and older
clients.
