Choose a published Base source revision for your Expo SDK. Check dependencies, keep family modules compatible, and review changes before updating.
Check the component’s release
Each canonical component page includes SDK-specific source revisions and dependency information. The catalog baseline is Expo SDK 58 and Expo SDK 57. Use the live table for that component rather than assuming every source revision supports every SDK.
Keep the family together
Base components can depend on base-theme and other Base components. The CLI and MCP resolve that source graph for one project SDK. Manual installs must keep the whole closure on a matching SDK revision.
Native packages
Base uses StyleSheet and Reanimated, with other packages only where documented. Read the dependency table for the exact component. Use Expo’s installer for SDK-compatible versions. A package with native code outside Expo Go’s bundled modules requires a development build.
Updates and local edits
Copied code belongs to your project. Review source differences and preserve custom themes when updating. The catalog supports current and previous SDK releases; older revisions remain archived source without updates. Only published compatible revisions are installable.
Device review
Each published piece is reviewed on physical iPhone and Android devices with Expo Go before release. The web preview helps you evaluate visual direction; test touch, keyboard, safe areas, overlays, and performance in your app.
